Beijing Miseat Office — Minimalist Modern Spiral Staircase
A custom glass spiral staircase for a creative office building in Beijing. The lightweight, open structure fits the clean modern tone of the office lobby and adds an architectural dimension to the space.
The staircase follows a continuous spiral form, rising as a single visual unit. The white twisted steel stringers read as light and fluid, tracing a smooth helical silhouette. Curved glass balustrades mirror the glass treads, paired with a white handrail — clean lines that become a recognizable focal point in the space.Forming the twisted stringers was technically demanding, but the final result reads light and crisp.
The staircase sits inside a blue-and-white interior, echoing the surrounding palette and fitting naturally within the minimalist office aesthetic. The all-glass construction allows light to pass freely through, keeping the interior open and expansive.
The site presented constraints: the staircase base sits close to the finished wall surface. The design team made repeated adjustments to the profile and level transitions, resolving headroom issues within a tight opening — balancing visual form, structural integrity, and user comfort.
